Q. What time should I plan to arrive the day of the fair?
A. Plan to arrive at 8am to confirm you are there with the registrar, get any entrance prizes, and do any needed setup for your project. 
Judging starts at about 9am. Even if your project doesn't take very long to setup, please plan to arrive early. We will provide a schedule of events when you arrive on the day of the fair.

 

Q. I've never entered a science fair or don't know what to do. Help!
A. Don't panic! There are lots of resources to help you figure out what to do. To start with, we would suggest this short YouTube video.

Q. What kind of a backboard should I use?
A. Most students use commercially available tri-fold backboards available from craft stores (i.e. Michael's). The boards should be no more than 
1.2m wide, 0.8m deep and 2.5m high from the floor. This conforms to the Canada Wide Science Fair Regulations. For more information about materials

Q. Is there a cost for students to enter the regional science fair?
A. There is no cost for students from Southeast Alberta to enter. The science fair is funded by donor organizations and the regional school boards.

 

Q. If I have a pairs project should each student register separately? 
A. No, only one registration is required for a project where students are working in pairs. Select Partner (2 Students) Project from the top of the project page, and fill in both student's names.

 

Q. There was a problem with my registration or I didn`t get the confirmation email. What should I do? 
A. Email the registrar at seab.sciencefair@gmail.com. Please note that it may take up to 48hrs to respond to emails to this account, but we will get it.

 

Q. Can I enter a student from another zone in the Southeast Alberta Fair?
A. We welcome all students. However, students from outside of the Southeast Alberta zone may be subject to a nominal entry fee, and cannot advance from this regional fair to the National Fair.

 

Q. Can I present my project and be judged in French?
A. Yes, projects may be entered or judged in either English or French.

 

Q. Do you take a position on the planetary status of pluto?
A. Not officially. But in our hearts it will always be a planet.
